  Creto's/Kade's Law: A law that has been named out of respect for David (Creto) Sherry, who was struck and killed while riding his motorcycle on July 11, 2014 in- Guilderland, NY and Kade O’Brien who was struck and killed while riding his motorcycle on April 11, 2011- in Pittsford, NY. Both Creto and Kade were killed when another motorist made an illegal turn directly in the path of their motorcycles (failing to yield right-of-way). Motorcyclist along with bicyclist, pedestrians and several other users of the highway should be considered as “vulnerable users” of the highway. Creto’s/Kade’s Law looks to hold motor vehicle operators accountable for blatantly committing moving violations (57 of them) of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law that result in the death of a motorcyclist or a passenger on a motorcycle. Having this law on the books will: #1. Bring about a heightened awareness to motorcycle fatalities caused by other motor vehicles. #2. Bring about accountability for a motorist taking the life of a motorcyclist, and allow law enforcement to charge a motorist with a Class D felony.
